The AIMAS team has developed the 5F Integrated Railway Model, applying it to strategic studies across the Argentine rail network. The result: increased corridor-level profitability and stronger regional integration. This transformation is driven by four key principles:

1. Commercial integration – treating rail as a business platform, not just transport.

2. North American-standard infrastructure – adopting maximum capacity benchmarks in weight, size, and efficiency.

3. Intermodal alliances – aligning rail with trucks and ships to unlock diversified revenue and new markets.

4. Shared investment and collaboration – enabling public-private partnerships at stations and logistics hubs through asset ownership, business synergies, and node-based cooperation in towns, cities, and ports.

The reality is clear: Argentina’s northern railway corridor cannot achieve profitability under outdated technical standards, isolated operations, or fragmented service to large shippers. But with integrated planning, intermodal connections, and upgraded capacity, these same routes are rapidly becoming viable.

The same logic applies to the Vaca Muerta oil corridor in Northern Patagonia. Projects designed under legacy standards and an open-access competition model consistently failed. But restructured under the 5F framework—with modern infrastructure, consolidated operations, and system-wide integration—they’ve turned profitable in just a few years.
